Q: Sometimes when I create a scatter chart I want to use some Label text or a number rather than a single character or symbol to represent the data points. How can I accomplish this using DeltaGraph?

A: Follow these steps:

  1. Enter your data. Make sure that the text you want used to replace the symbol for each series is in the Label column for the row corresponding to that series. Also, make sure that the Label column is included in the data you use to create the chart.
  2. Plot your scatter chart.
  3. Go to the Chart menu and choose Show Values.
  4. In the resulting dialog change Location to "On" and Text to "Category". Click OK. You should now see the text from your Label column eclipsing your symbols.
  5. To hide the symbols go to the Chart Menu and choose Options.
  6. Uncheck the checkbox labeled "Show Symbols and click OK.
  7. Lastly, if you would like the text labels to have transparent backgrounds, click on each series in turn and use the pattern tool to change the background pattern to None.
